Course Update – 15 March 2019

We are very pleased to report green tinges are emerging on the fairways after some rain in recent weeks and signs of seasonal change. The course is in good condition albeit many fairways are predominantly brown in colour. After a very dry spring and summer and the need to ration available water, only the greens, surrounds, tees and selected fairways are being watered. The playing surface is very good, firm and fast, very links like and similar to the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie.

To help mitigate water rationing in the future, the dam enlargement project has commenced.

In summary, all playing surfaces are in good condition with the bent grass greens in excellent condition, firm, fast and true.

We appreciate the feedback from golfers over the last month that include:

  • Great layout, good turf on fairways and greens, and friendly staff (and hot food) back in the clubhouse (Greg – 13 Feb)
  • Absolutely wonderful golf experience. Course mint condition and moved beautifully through the property. Links at its best. (Andy – 26 Feb)
  • Great course, stunning views, exceptional design, very well manicured, great run on the fairways and the greens are a treat. (Michael – 8 March)

We look forward to welcoming you to Ocean Dunes in the coming months and taking on the challenge!
