We are pleased to report the course is in good condition albeit the fairways have browned off. After a very dry spring and summer to date (3mm vs 40mm January average) and the need to ration current available water, only the greens, surrounds, tees and selected fairways are being watered. Whilst the fairway turf is brown the playing surface is very good, firm and fast, very links like and similar to the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie.
To help mitigate water rationing in the future, assessments have been completed and earthworks are planned to commence this month, more than doubling our current holding capacity.
In summary, all playing surfaces are in good condition with the bent grass greens in particular having a great coverage, running firm, fast and true. We look forward to welcoming golfers in the coming months and taking on the great challenge Ocean Dunes presents.
